Pavia

A really quiet day on the flat plain of Lombardy. Not much to see or photograph. Huge fields of tomatoes in this area. Actually crossed the Po river early in the day. The flood plain is so flat and wide you rarely see the river. Visited two cities, Piacenza and Pavia, but I’ve been spoiled by amazing baroque/medieval/renaissance cities and pretty good doesn’t impress. Pavia has a lovely covered bridge over its tributary river (the Ticino). Best part of the day was meeting a lovely, giant, Irish Wolfhound. So noble looking and so friendly and cuddly! Left Lombardy late in the day and entered Piedmont. Piedmont will bring hills and the return of grapevines.
