Day 5 Orleans to Sancerre
98 km (61 miles) day, 368 miles total.

A shorter distance , but a pleasant day. Cloudy in the morning and improving to a lovely evening.
Not very much to report as the route was mainly on the Loire levee (flood embankment) and the Canal Latéral à la Loire. These have the advantages that they are flat and traffic free, but the disadvantage that that are boring. Most villages were formed before the levee or canal were built and are away from the river to avoid flood (except where high ground is near the river). So, little of interest. Great Chateau at Sully-Sur-Loire (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Sully-sur-Loire) and a really boring one at Gien (but a nice Bridge).
Found a lovely picnic spot for lunch.
Finished at the earliest time so far and found a nice campsite by the Loire. There was a wine and goats-cheese tasting about to start, hosted by the Loire tourist organisation. Enjoyed this. Cooked dinner, watched France vs Belgium, wrote blog.
