The longest ride so far but a pleasant and easy one. Mostly brilliant blue skies (again!) Started with an early morning shop in Günzburg, for breakfast and suntan cream, before setting off. The Danube valley widens after Ulm (as does the river) and the track stays mainly on the flat valley bottom. With a flat valley, and no embankments, the villages are further away from the river - no not as much to see in terms of architecture. Just pleasant, flat, rural Bavaria. Got off the track at one point and met a similarly disoriented cyclist. Tom, is English, and from Newcastle. He’s a teacher on the Isle of Skye. We spent a very pleasant (for me, I didn’t ask Tom) few miles chatting as we got back on course. We parted at Lauingen when I realised I hadn’t had a coffee. I hope we’ll meet up again along the way. By the time I reached Neuburg an der Donau, yet another lovely medieval town, it was “beer o’clock” so I took some pictures and fixed my thirst. Refreshed, I eventually arrived in Ingolstadt. Went exploring early evening and had a very fine glass of Pinot Grigio in the main drinking street. Architecture looks Dutch to my eyes (see the pics) but with the pastel paint shades common here. Short ride tomorrow 😀
