Day 10 Wandshut to Engender

90 km (56 miles) day,  639 total
If yesterday morning was lovely then today was better - not least because nobody knocked me off my bike. After 1 km the path followed the banks of a lovely tributary of the Rhine. Small, sparkling, cascades every 100 meters and pretty covered bridges. Climbed over a series of hills back to the Rhine, which is a beautiful green. Wandered in, and out, of Switzerland/Germany as the track crossed the many bridges. The river is the border here and the crossings are a bit spooky. All the border infrastructure is in place, but they are all deserted. Visited the Rhine Falls - the highest in Europe. At 75 ft high they are not quite half the height of Niagara but still very impressive. Villages amazingly picturesque but Stein am Rhein is the best. This was the day of the World Cup final and stopped at a Croatia supporting bar to wish the supporters luck as our family in Croatia had sent me pictures of their preparation. Found my target campsite, watched the final (wrong result) and went to bed. Thunderstorms in the night but my tarp was a match for them.
